The Magnolia Sisters - Codofil Festival, Lafayette, La - 1980

This is a photo of the first Magnolia Sisters group, with Jeanie on fiddle, Mary Jane Broussard on Accordion, and Ann Savoy on guitar. All three sang. It was a short lived band but was an early attempt at an all women's cajun band and they sounded great. Mary Jane Broussard is a very accomplished zydeco and creole accordionist and is a neice of Bois Ardoin and related to Keith Frank. Her son, T. Broussard, is a really fine and energetic zydeco and creole accordionist. Mary Jane still plays regularly in Louisiana. Ann Savoy now has a group, also called the Magnolia Sisters, which does very nice cajun music. Ann also has a couple of other bands and her and Mark's (Ann's husband) son, Wilson, plays in the Pine Leaf Boys.
