Bonnie Apodaca and Joe with Bayou Seco at Santa Fiesta, 1981

Jeanie and Ken met Bonnie Apodaca in 1980 and she asked them if they could learn some Spanish Colonial tunes for her dancers. She had learned the old Spanish Colonial dances from her grandfather, who had a hall where many of these dances occured. She introduced us to several old fiddlers in her part of New Mexico, near Arroyo Seco, just south of Española. We learned a bunch of the tunes and dances and played for her dancers in 1980, 81, 82 and 83 at the Santa Fe fiesta and at several other venues.
